After breakfast, depart from your hotel in Moshi and drive to Marangu Gate where registration and climb formalities will be completed. Begin your trek through Kilimanjaro’s lush rainforest, home to towering trees, colorful flowers, and various wildlife species including blue monkeys and colobus monkeys. The gradual trail provides an excellent introduction to the mountain environment. Upon arrival at Mandara Hut, enjoy some rest before an optional walk to Maundi Crater for spectacular views of northern Tanzania and neighboring Kenya.

Fair Acclimatization. Known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” it follows the same path up and down the mountain. The shorter itinerary means less time for altitude adjustment, making acclimatization more challenging.
After an early breakfast, continue your ascent through the heath and moorland zone. As the forest gradually disappears, the landscape opens into vast mountain scenery dominated by giant lobelias and unique alpine vegetation. Throughout the trek, enjoy magnificent views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks. The journey is longer today, but the changing environment makes every step rewarding. Arrive at Horombo Hut in the afternoon and relax while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Good Start
This is the first overnight stop after leaving Marangu Gate. Most climbers feel comfortable at this altitude, although some may experience mild shortness of breath during the hike. The body begins adapting to lower oxygen levels.
Today is dedicated to acclimatization, a critical step in increasing your chances of reaching the summit safely and comfortably. After breakfast, hike to the fascinating Zebra Rocks, named after their striking black-and-white striped appearance caused by mineral deposits. Along the way, enjoy impressive views of Mawenzi Peak and the surrounding moorland. After spending time at the rocks, return to Horombo Hut for lunch and a relaxing afternoon to allow your body to adapt to the higher elevation.

Following breakfast, continue your journey toward Kibo Hut. The trail crosses the famous alpine desert known as “The Saddle,” a vast and rugged plateau located between Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks. Upon arrival at Kibo Hut, enjoy an early dinner and receive a briefing from your guides before resting in preparation for the summit attempt.

Around midnight, begin the most challenging and rewarding stage of your adventure. Trek under the stars toward Gilman’s Point before reaching the crater rim at sunrise. Continue along the rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters. Celebrate your remarkable achievement while enjoying breathtaking views across glaciers and volcanic landscapes. After photographs and a short rest, descend carefully back to Kibo Hut for refreshments before continuing to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved overnight stay.

Challenging
Oxygen levels are significantly lower here. Mild altitude sickness symptoms such as headache, loss of appetite, and restless sleep are common.
After breakfast, begin your final descent through the moorland and rainforest zones. The trail offers a final opportunity to appreciate Kilimanjaro’s diverse ecosystems and beautiful mountain scenery. Upon reaching Mandara Hut, enjoy a short break before continuing to Marangu Gate. Here you will receive your official summit certificate and celebrate your achievement with your mountain crew. A transfer will then take you back to Moshi or Arusha where a hot shower and comfortable accommodation await.
