Nairobi – Mount Kenya Sirimon Gate – Old Moses Camp

Beginning the Mount Kenya Adventure

After breakfast in Nairobi, depart for Mount Kenya National Park and drive to Sirimon Gate. Following registration and a briefing from your mountain crew, begin your trek through montane forests filled with giant heather, bamboo, and indigenous wildlife. The trail gradually ascends through beautiful landscapes with spectacular views of Mount Kenya’s peaks. Arrive at Old Moses Camp in the afternoon where you can relax and acclimatize while enjoying the fresh mountain air.

Day 2

Old Moses Camp – Shipton's Camp

Into the High Alpine Zone

After an early breakfast, continue your ascent through the dramatic Mackinder Valley. The scenery changes dramatically as you enter the alpine zone characterized by giant lobelias, groundsels, and rocky mountain terrain. Along the route, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kenya’s jagged peaks and glacial valleys. Arrive at Shipton’s Camp in the afternoon and spend the remainder of the day acclimatizing while preparing for higher elevations.

Day 3

Acclimatization and Summit Exploration

High Altitude Adventure

Today is dedicated to acclimatization and exploring the upper mountain environment. Depending on conditions and fitness levels, enjoy a guided hike toward the summit viewpoints near Point Lenana. Witness magnificent sunrise views over the Kenyan highlands and neighboring mountain ranges. The day helps your body adapt to altitude while providing incredible photographic opportunities and unforgettable mountain scenery.

Day 4

Shipton's Camp – Old Moses Camp – Nairobi

Descending from Mount Kenya

After breakfast, begin your descent through the beautiful valleys and moorlands of Mount Kenya National Park. Enjoy final views of the mountain peaks before entering the lower forest zone. Upon reaching Sirimon Gate, transfer back to Nairobi where you can relax and celebrate your Mount Kenya achievement. Descending through multiple ecological zones in one day highlights Mount Kenya’s remarkable biodiversity and changing landscapes.

Day 5

Rest Day in Nairobi

Recovery and Preparation

Today is reserved for rest and recovery after your Mount Kenya trek. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and spend the day at your own pace. Explore Nairobi, visit local attractions, or simply relax at your hotel while preparing for the next phase of your adventure. This recovery day allows your body to recharge before travelling to Tanzania.

Nairobi offers attractions such as the Giraffe Centre, Karen Blixen Museum, and Nairobi National Park for those wishing to explore the city.

Day 6

Nairobi – Arusha/Moshi

Crossing into Tanzania

After breakfast, depart Nairobi and travel south towards Tanzania. Enjoy scenic views of the countryside and traditional villages along the route. Upon arrival in Arusha or Moshi, check into Arusha Planet Lodge. The lodge offers beautiful gardens, a swimming pool, comfortable rooms, and an excellent restaurant, providing the perfect environment to rest before beginning your Kilimanjaro climb.

Day 7

Machame Gate – Machame Camp

Entering the Rainforest

After breakfast, transfer to Machame Gate where your Kilimanjaro adventure begins. Following registration, trek through lush rainforest filled with giant trees, colorful birds, and unique vegetation. The trail gradually ascends toward Machame Camp, offering your first experience of Kilimanjaro’s diverse ecosystems.

Day 8

Machame Camp – Shira Camp

Across the Moorlands

Continue climbing through heather and moorland landscapes as spectacular views begin to open around you. Cross rocky ridges and expansive plateaus before arriving at Shira Camp. The panoramic scenery provides an incredible introduction to Kilimanjaro’s higher elevations.

Day 9

Shira Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp

Acclimatization Day

Today’s trek follows the famous climb-high, sleep-low principle. Ascend to Lava Tower before descending to Barranco Camp. This important acclimatization day improves your chances of successfully reaching the summit while offering some of the mountain’s most dramatic scenery.Lava Tower is a striking volcanic rock formation and serves as a key acclimatization point on the Machame Route

Day 10

Barranco Camp – Karanga – Barafu Camp

Preparing for the Summit

Climb the famous Barranco Wall before continuing through alpine landscapes toward Barafu Camp. Arrive in the afternoon and spend time resting, hydrating, and preparing your gear for the summit attempt later in the night.

Day 11

Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp

Reaching the Roof of Africa

Shortly before midnight, begin your summit push to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters. Witness a spectacular sunrise over the continent before celebrating your achievement at the summit. After photographs and celebrations, descend through alpine and moorland zones to Mweka Camp.

Day 12

Mweka Gate – Arusha Planet Lodge

Celebration and Relaxation

After breakfast, complete the final descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate where you will receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to Arusha Planet Lodge and enjoy a well-deserved hot shower, swimming pool, massage treatments, and comfortable accommodation.

Day 13

Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Land of Giants

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park for your first wildlife safari. The park is renowned for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and abundant wildlife. Enjoy an afternoon game drive searching for lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeests, and numerous bird species.

Day 14

Full Day Tarangire National Park

Exploring the Elephant Kingdom

Spend the entire day exploring Tarangire’s diverse habitats. Follow the Tarangire River where wildlife gathers throughout the year. Watch elephants moving through the landscape and enjoy outstanding opportunities for photography and wildlife observation. The lodge’s elevated position provides stunning views over the river valley, where animals often pass directly below the property.

Day 15

Tarangire – Karatu

Leisure and Coffee Experience

After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive to Karatu. Upon arrival at Ngorongoro Farm House, spend the day relaxing and recovering from your mountain adventures. Join a guided coffee plantation tour to learn about Tanzania’s coffee-growing traditions, from cultivation to roasting and tasting. Enjoy the peaceful gardens and countryside atmosphere.

Day 16

Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha / JRO / Zanzibar

Final Safari Experience

After an early breakfast, descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater for a final game drive. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to an incredible concentration of wildlife including lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and the rare black rhinoceros. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor while surrounded by one of Africa’s most remarkable ecosystems. Later, ascend the crater and transfer to Arusha, Kilimanjaro International Airport, or Zanzibar according to your travel arrangements.
